Can AI replace managers?
AI is already eliminating jobs (data)
Aloha,
It’s Friday—yay! 🥳
Today’s edition is packed with a lot of content, but before we dive into this—I have a super short request—it’s just about 1 click!”
Which category best describes you?[click below] |
Once you click above, you can also provide additional feedback on how I can offer more value to you!
As I mentioned recently, I am working on revamping the content for this newsletter (and potentially for some new ones), so if I can better understand your needs - my dear audience - it would make us all happier 🙂 .
Thanks a bunch!!! Ok, let’s dive into today’s edition!
Table of Contents
🇪🇸 Catch Me at South Summit 2024
I’ll be speaking at South Summit 2024 in Madrid from June 5th to 7th, alongside amazing speakers like Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph and Waze co-founder Uri Levine. Will you be there? Let’s meet up - hit “Reply” 📤️
If you are thinking about coming, last year's edition attracted over 22,000 attendees, 3,000 entrepreneurs, 900 speakers, and more than 100 investment funds. It’s one of the largest tech events in Europe!”
See you there? 🙂
😅 How to have fewer meetings? [Guidebook]
Over a year ago I “hired” AI to help me with my first AI-powered product: a guidebook on asynchronous work. We co-curated the content in just a few days, instead of working on it for weeks. I was BLOWN AWAY!
If you feel like you have too many meetings, grab the guidebook today.
Yesterday I checked the stats and was quite impressed. With 0 budget and almost no promo:
465 downloads
44 reviews with 5/5 rating
29 purchases
Maybe I should create another guidebook - sth about AI?
What do you think? 😎
🤩 Community Spotlight: Alma Andino-Frydman
I met Alma Andino-Frydman last year in Lisbon, where she presented future of work research on behalf of Stanford University. Although still a student, she impressed us all with her fascinating insights. Exploring the city by night with the #remotework crew created lasting memories. 🥳️ 🇵🇹
Alma’s latest article on AI offers a clear and technical introduction, covering its origins and the differences between machine learning, large language models, and neural networks. If you’re curious about how AI works and its implications for the future of work, this article is a must-read!
🤔 AI eliminating & creating jobs (data)
I recently came across a great research on “The jobs being replaced by AI – an analysis of 5M freelancing jobs.” Let’s start with some optimistic news.
What kinds of jobs are on the rise?
What kinds of jobs are on the rise? Quite a few, all “AI-related,” but not all require programming or data skills. No-code is the future, and AI is improving in coding, so that one day anyone could build not just websites, but fully fledged apps. (Remember when the CEO of Nvidia said that “people should learn to farm, instead of coding.”)
JOBS IN DECLINE: ❌ Writing, translation, and customer service jobs saw the most significant decreases in freelance job postings, with declines of 33%, 19%, and 16%, respectively. This suggests that these areas are being impacted the most by AI tools like ChatGPT, which can handle tasks such as writing and basic customer service functions.
JOBS GROWING: ✅ Job categories such as video editing/production, graphic design, and web development not only remained resilient but actually increased in demand. Video editing/production jobs rose by 39%, graphic design by 8%, and web design by 10%. This indicates that AI tools are not yet advanced enough to fully replace the nuanced and creative work required in these fields.
